BAILEY A FA? |
Speculation is that Longtime Indian who has an option for next season of 8 million is going to hit the market accourding to sources.
Bailey is what is called a 'winner', he has never truely been considered an 'ACE'. Even During his 20 win season. He is only 32.
Leaked, it has that Axle 'Sugar' Mendez is hitting the market. This is via reliable sources. HBL is scouting him as 'Young' but VERY tallented. He has at least 8 seasons of top not performance & maybe being on a team that has an ace so he isn't so stressed about performance.
Still ball to be played, but a huge spash in the FA market. ...

POWER SURGE |
Rookies aren't supposed to play this well. Yet Gregg Nelson continues to do so. He ranks third in the American League in both home runs (26) and RBI (79). He owns seven multi-homer game including one three HR game. He owns a six-hit game. He won the AL Rookie of the Month for June while also earning the AL Player of the Month. He earned a spot on the AL All-Star team. Nelson accomplished all of this in only one half of a season. Dare to dream what else he will do but he won't.
"I take it day-by-day," Nelson replied. "Right now I'm seeing the ball very good."
That's understatement - to put it mildly.
The rookie record for home runs (42) and RBI (145) was set in 2004 by Oakland's Gary Waggener. If Nelson keeps up his curr ...

ALL-STAR BREAK SPELLS DISASTER FOR HOT CALGARY |
The All-Star Break was supposed to bring new hope to the Calgary Storm. After a horrible start to the 2029 season, Calgary bounced back with an 18-7 June to pull within just 3 games of the Brewers for the division lead.
Even better news was that #2 pitcher Harvey Smith and Cleanup Hitter Augusto Garza were due back from the DL immediately following the break.
Athough Calgary had just 6 wins in April, a hot June gave fans a new hope. In a division where a .500 record would most likely get you a playoff spot, anything was possible. The team seems to have gelled of late, including a NO HITTER by #4 pitcher Billy Simms against the Mets and a 6-hit game by Ramon Bonilla.
Further fueling the resurgence was the play of fr ...

THE VALUES OF GAME CHANGERS |
The Cleveland Indians traded away the best player in the league, acording to Riddle anyways. For two high level specs & a couple of picks. Rebuilding, Riddle called it.
A few weeks rolled by & Riddle saw his teams pitching looked lights out, the hitting was getting runners on. The problem was they weren't making the transition from 3rd to home.
The Indians looked to Seattles Serafin Valentino. The team is 19-13 since getting him. Part of the reason is Rocky is hitting 380 with a 518OBP.
Unsung Hero, unknown firstbaseman Juan Jose Mercado has been waiting in the wings of both Milan Averett(ANA) & Edington(ANA) to show the team he can be a game breaker, even with power at the firstbase position. The Indians went on a whi ...

15 AND COUNTING.... |
The LA Dodgers are on a 15 game winning streak. They have not lost a game in May and they are doing it with what...HITTING. Go figure that one out.
Despite every critic claiming winning in Dodger stadium requires pitching, pitching, pitching, the Dodgers is one of the best offensive powers in the HBL in the month of April and May. How can that be, well career springs by Catcher Buitrago hitting ,374 with 11HR and OF Nakagawa hitting ,379 with a OBP of .448 doesn't hurt. Also, sophomore OF Claudio Gonzales is hitting .325 with an OBP of .399 and 7 HR. Gonzales is of course getting really good pitches to look at because he hits before the 2 previously mentioned. Also playing well is SS Andre Patenaude hitting .307 with a ...

3 OUT IN THE ROCKIES |
It certainly has been a rocky begining to the start of their innagural season for the Colorado Rockies. While sporting a very surprising 11-9 record through 20 games, injuries have battered the team in the past 10 days.
SS Gil Cruz was the first to go down straining a back muscle on April 10th. he was off to a blistering start with 3 homeruns in the first 10 days.
CF John O'Higgins injured his knee running the bases just 3 days later. All he was doing was hitting .349 with 11 runs scored.
Then came Angel Munro who was starting in place of injured Cruz. He broke his ribs chasing a foul ball into the stands on the 19th.
"Taken individually, we could play through these injuries, and we were." GM Bob Lang stated. ...

GET YOUR POKER FACE OUT, NO FOLD |
As the Indians come into this season they will rely on both youth in their minors & Rocky Valentino. Kudos to all that thought the Indians would refuse to fold. They trade a reliever (CL) for another shot at being great.
BREAK IT DOWN!
CF - JOE KIELY! - Stud Fielder injuried last season, when he is on the field the Indians win, he started the first month & the last two. Indians lost like 8 games when he was in hte lineup last season.
C - Eric Dees - Former MVP, no more said.
SS - ROCKY VALENTINO - 36 & still hacking the SHIZZLE.
DH - ANDREW USRY - If the Roc & the Rocket can have great seasons, they will put hte O in WOW.
LF Fernando Martinez - Sick of the York, can you say CREAM me pantilones. :D< ...

STRONG REDS TEAM LOOKING FOR A TITLE |
Even after losing four players (Cruz, O’Higgins, Marshall, and Montano) in the expansion draft the Reds should remain a solid team that stays in contention all season.
The Reds everyday starting line-up is a mix of veterans and younger players that should provide them with a solid offense again this season. The team led the league in many offensive categories last season and should do the same again this year. The 2029 line-up will be:
CF Tarrik Braun – he had an OBP of .401 last season and stole 27 bases in 35 attempts. He also is a solid defender with an excellent arm.
1B Luis Starling will be moved up in the order to hit in the #2 spot. He had an OPS of just under .900 last season with 32 HR’s and 100 RBI , he ...

AFTER OFFSEASON OF CHANGE, GIANTS STAND PAT |
After re-tooling most of their lineup last season, the San Francisco Giants were expecting to make a run for the World Series. However, except for one run for 3 months in the middle of the season, their potential was never reached and were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs after failing to win the NL West.
This off season, the Giants didn't do much. After the expansion draft, they lost two relief pitchers and had to re-tool the bullpen. Other than that and the addition of outfielder Manny Gallegos, the Giants are relying on bounce back years from their offensive players (The Giants had no one hit over .300 a year ago) and their starting pitchers - especially Wallace Weaver.
Weaver had a very good Spring Training (2 ...

TURNING THE CORNER? |
The 2028 Mariners were horrid. They could not hit and could not pitch which earned them 48 wins.
2029 was going to be different. Several highly touted prospects (Ortiz, Tate, Nelson, Vasquez)would make their full time debuts. The front office would acquire two all-star veterans (Valentino, Oslan) to legitimize the offense and give the young kids some protection in the lineup. They would also sign several free agent pitchers to drastically improve their starting rotation. What? They didn't?
Despite having tons of cash available, not one of the top free agent pitchers signed with the Mariners. Subsequently the Mariners had to shop the clearance rack for the likes of Tony Peek, Anthony Finnegan and Richard Millborrow.
Now ...
