DODGERS 2028 ROUNDUP |
The Dodgers head into the season with only a few changes as they were unable to acquire any top players in FA or in trading in the offseason. Problem is the NL West is stacked with the likes of the Giants and San Diego making it difficult to win any games in the division. The best they can hope for is maybe breaking .500 for once. They have a pretty good offense with a Young and unproven starting lineup that could make or break their season and the relief is only slightly better than last season. Let's look at the roundup
THE LINEUP
Catcher (No Change) Buitrago, Jorge Buitrago is a top 5 catcher in all of the HBL. He had his best season ever last year hitting .335 Avg with .392 OB and 33 HR.

A CLOSER SHAVE? |
After a season that saw the Twins one game out of one of two playoff spots going into the last four-game series of the season, expectations have risen for the team that hasn't played .500 ball since 2022. "From the worst record in the league to the brink of a division title," GM Hector Perez said. "I know the division played poorly down the stretch but I couldn't be happier with the results and the progress we made last season."
The season has its share of highlights for the Twins. Aside from the compensatory #1 overall draft selection for having the team's worst record the previous season, there were numerous recognitions for players and executives ...

2028 SEASON FULL OF QUESTION MARKS IN CALGARY |
Calgary, Canada (AP) - The 2027 season was without a doubt the low point since the Storm relocated from Montreal in 2016. Following 10 straight seasons of playoff baseball, the most spoiled fans in the game expected nothing different. After all, they still had perennial MVP candidate Glenn Schmitz and perennial Cy Young contender Derrick Pike. Everything looked ready to go for another successful season.
But it never happened. In fact, it never even got started. The season began under .500 and ended well under .500. We've seen the Storm teeter around the .500 mark before and then win 75% of the games the rest of the way through, but not this time. In late June the team decided that it was just not their year and started trading ...

2028 METS HOPING EXPERIENCE IS THE KEY |
The New York Mets begin another long season in the HBL. Yes, it is true that this team seen more success in the past 10 years than in the previous 20, but the fact is Queens is still without a title and the Bronx just keeps on winning them.
During 2027 New York fans saw nothing from their beloved Mets franchise. The mighty Met line up that was supposed to be so potent stalled, limped, and quietly fell to the bottom of the league. Meanwhile the young pitching staff posted four starters with sub 4.00 ERA’s. However, with a very young pen and Michael Hammonds being shaky in the closers role prompted some changes to the organization.
Nothing drastic was done, but GM Michael Pullen felt the teams resources could be better use ...

'VOODOO' IN, SALEEM OUT AS GIANTS ANNOUNCE FINAL ROSTER |
It was early January when the San Francisco Giants quietly announced the signing of 23 year old Cleveland 'Voodoo' Schill. The team was looking for depth in center field, and GM Jared Book turned to the once very-promising prospect he drafted in Texas.
It turns out, the quietest move of the offseason for the Giants was one of the best. Schill, who was released by the Washington Nationals after suffering a back injury last season, outfought the 5 other candidates in camp to win the job.
Before Spring Training, the job was to be handed to 33-year-old incumbent Terry Grange who had a .247-18HR-89RBI season last year. But, Grange struggled to the tune of a .133 average (4/30) with no homeruns or RBI.
Schill for his part ...

2028 NATS NOWHERE TO GO BUT UP |
After last years disappointing season, the Washington Nationals have nowhere to go but up. Nationals GM Brian Ricker was quoted as saying - "Obviously we can't go after as many big name talents as we'd like right now with the relatively small market we are in. But we have some upcoming talent on the farm and the first of those players will be starting this year at CF, Jack Blake. We are expecting big things out of Jack." Acquisitions in FA were made to try to shore up the obvious weaknesses in the lineup and staff while keeping an eye on the budget. Should be able to climb out of the basement this year.
Lineup is as follows-
1. Sylvestre Noriega - returning to OF from last year, decent contact hitter .309 OBP in 2027. 2. Ma ...

BROOKS TO METS!! |
NY, NY AP
The New York Mets have announced their one major free agent signing of the off-season, relief pitcher Bobby Brooks. The 35 year old pitcher signed for 3 years at just over 6 million per season, the final year is a player option.
The signing of Brooks brings experience to a very young Mets bull pen. The Mets last year boasted a very very young pen, and it showed as they slowly fell out of the playoff race. Closer, Michael Hammonds said, "We're glad to have Bobby in here, he killed us last year when he pitched [for Pittsburgh]. He should give us the lift we need to get back into the playoffs." This talk of back into the playoffs is assuming the Mets bats wake up and people like Martinez, Edington, and Bakkhansen a ...

CINCY ADDS ALVARADO TO THE INFIELD, BUT WHERE? |
CINCINNATI: The signing of Pedro Alvarado by the Cincinnati Reds has added a solid bat to the middle of the Reds line-up. Reds manager Pete Rose Jr. expects to insert him in the #3 spot just ahead of John Lee, but added that the two players could switch lineup positions depending on how they are hitting.
The more interesting part of the equation is where will Alvarado be playing. The Reds already have a slick fielding SS in Gil Cruz and a powerful youngster in Labadie at 2B. Labadie finished last season on the DL and must have been working on his hitting because he has gained some power since the end of the season. Rose Jr. said that Alvarado will be at 1B were he is considered a gold glove type fielder. Which bumps up and coming ...

INDIANS IN DEBACLE |
Just released from Cleveland Indians Pre-Spring workouts; Cleveland Indians Reliever Jeffery Johnson's Agent Johnathon West had this to say about his high rise client. 'My Client (Johnson) has advised me that he will no longer allow himself to be subjugated to the lackluster duties of pitching in a slight middle relief role. He advised me that he will either be traded or released if he does not get the starting role he wants. We are not demanding in that we wants to be the ace, but nothing less then the 3rd spot will do.'
Cleveland Indians Owner Steven Riddle could not be reached for comment, but the depth chart for the Indians has been released & it includes;
1. Cameron Bailey 2. Andy 'Scarface' Wilson 3. Jeffer ...

EXTREME MAKEOVER: LINEUP EDITION CONTINUES IN SAN FRANCISCO |
San Francisco Giants GM Jared Book looked at the media, filed away the newly signed contracts of three free agents and announced that he has the team he is ready to go into Spring Training with.
"We're done. And we feel we are a much better team offensively and especially defensively than we were when we were eliminated by the NL Champion San Diego Padres," Book said.
Book announced the signing of three players, outfielders Alexis Ramirez and Jason Falkner and catcher John Mello.
"Those were the three guys we were targetting and we got all three," said Book.
Ramirez was the costliest of the three. His contract runs for 4 years for a total of $53.1m. The 31-year old hit .271 with 28 HR and 104 RBI with the Pitt ...
